I’m seeing the difficulty and the challenge to what it means to promote and drive your own start-up.
As many of the greats such as John Saddington pointed out, a start-up can be a LOT of work and a challenge. This can also be said for self-publishing as an Author.
One of the many options that I thought would be good would be to sell my most cherished collection of “Sonic the Hedgehog” comic books.
Keep in mind, this was not my first option at all. This was the nuclear option. I would NEVER, EVER sell my comic books for any reason unless I absolutely had too. But, I thought my large collection of “Sonic the Hedgehog” comic books would actually sell well.
When a guy offered me 3 bucks the other day for them, I simply packed my comics back into my box and immediately walked out of the door. But, don’t worry, I wasn’t mean or rude about it. I simply said, “no thanks” and got the heck outta there.
I knew I couldn’t part with that incredibly large stack for such a minuscule amount.
But at least I knew I could go through with the idea of doing something like that!
Sacrifice, I’m learning, is one of the most important mindsets to have in anything you do, especially with regards to starting a business or being a a full-time author or building a start-up. It is what it is and I’m willing to do whatever I need to do to make things work for my business and my personal life.
